Learn Bee Smart Beekeeping by visiting other beekeepers hives and getting real time tuition from Rae Butler.

Rae Butler will organise field days throughout the year, visiting Bee Smart Breeding team members beehives and assisting the Owner with their beehive management while other members can watch and learn on the spot invaluable beekeeping insights.

The more members, the more field days - register today.

How does it work?

Team Members are only eligible to nominate their hives for a site visit the following services will be classified as extra to the beehive Owner having their beehives worked:

  • Certificate Of Inspections (COI) $20 per beehive on a field day

  • AFB inspections and Mite Monitoring $25 per hive on a field day

FIELD DAYS:

Field days can consist of 1 – 4 site visits depending on what is required by members. Up to 4 members in the same vicinity can be coordinated in 1 Field day hence 4 site visits can be accomplished in 1 field day. Attendees must supply their own protective gear and any medication for bee stings.

The cost of a Field Day will depend on how many site visits there are and where they are located.

Carpooling can be co-ordinated as the region covered will be around the Canterbury.

WORKSHOPS:

Rae draw on her 25 years’ experience in the beekeeping industry to present ½ day workshops at the Bee Smart Breeding base in Ashburton that will cover, Bee Biology, Disease Identification, Varroa Monitoring,  Breeding, Sex life of a Queen, Bee Botanic’s and more.
